Description

Bauxite Throne is an outstanding armchair whose main component is obtained from used, disposable cans. More than 15 000 can bases, in fact, forge some quite eccentric vertical cylinders, assembled together to give shape to this splendid, self-indulgent piece of decor. Its rigorous, almost essential, external form is put in motion through the sinuous pillars, entirely made out of can’s bases. As a result, round and squared shapes play with one another in a game that respects very punctual, modular repetitions. While, at the same time, a sense of balance and steadiness fills the empty spaces between the slender but solid rounded piles.

This dramatic armchair is comprised of columns of can bases tightly stacked together, finished using 195 nickel-plated cap nuts. The seat is formed with 575mm x 520mm plexiglass secured using 4 nickel plated cap nuts.  This chair is constructed on 4 wheels to allow for easy transportation and adjustment.
